Discover The Best Skiing In Val Thorens

Located in the northern French Alps, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in the mountain range. As one of the largest linked ski areas in the world, its enviable snow conditions and wide range of ski areas are sure to delight. The valley, comprising three villages, boasts a vibrant social scene that is humming with activity, including a range of shops, bars and restaurants in which to unwind and relax after a thrilling turn down the slopes. By choosing a catered chalet, Val Thorens can be enjoyed to its full potential and the purpose-built resort offers a variety of accommodation options to complement its buzzing atmosphere and lively leisure activities. The ski area is well suited to providing exhilarating experiences for intermediate skiers, but has enough to challenge more advanced tastes too, both on and off piste. You certainly won’t get bored exploring the impressive 319 pistes, with a combined length of 600km. The resort can even lay claim to one of the top ten runs in the world, so whilst you may only reluctantly emerge from your catered chalet, Val Thorens has much to offer in terms of thrilling ski runs.

1.For scenery fanatics

For breathtaking views of the valley, glide down to the Peclet gondola to enjoy the smooth turns of red piste Christine, from over 3,000 metres. This can be accessed by taking the Moraine followed by the Col chairlift, from which you can truly appreciate the beauty of the region.

2. For confident skiers

If you’re comfortable with black runs and like a challenge, you can really gather some speed on the Lac Blanc and Les Vires pistes. Wide enough to allow you to avoid other skiers, these runs can be accessed from right at the top of the Glacier chairlift.

3. For the party animals

Whilst the Plein Sud lift serves a gentle blue piste, it also plays host to one of the top après ski bars in the Alps, the Folie Douce. With live music and table dancing, this run is deceptively lively, so make sure you don’t miss out on the fun. Safe in the knowledge that you can stumble back to your catered chalet, Val Thorens will provide plenty to delight you here.

4.For all to enjoy

The blue piste Dallas is wide enough to be perfect for improving skiers, and can be enjoyed by groups with a range of abilities. As you descend to the bottom of Dallas, you may find yourself gliding right up to the door of your catered chalet. Val Thorens ski resort sits nestled at the bottom of this run, which makes it a perfect vantage point to scope out all the area has to offer. This unique valley has something for everyone. Whether you’re longing to get going on the most thrilling of runs, or you’re just happy to kick back and relax in your luxury catered chalet, Val Thorens will satisfy your needs and then exceed them. From nights out to dining, and nursery slopes to expert ones, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for.
